The angel of judgement and destruction that יהוה often times uses upon the wicked; Num 22 with Balaam, 1 Chr. 21 where David numbered his army and in 2 Chr. 32 against Assyria. Here in chapter 20 this angel finally lays the ultimate judgment upon Satan. "And I saw a heavenly angel come down from the heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand."
And I saw a heavenly angel come down from the heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold of the dragon, that old serpent, who is s.a.tan, and bound him a thousand years.
The angel of judgement and destruction that יהוה often times uses upon the wicked. Num 22 with Balaam, 1 Chr 21 David numbered his army. 2 Chr 32 against Assyria.
Here this malach finally lays the ultimate judgment upon Satan.
Did we reach up to heaven or did the angel come down from heaven?
ירד yârad
Ps. 49:7 None of humanity can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to YAH a ransom for him.
Today, I want to view Chapter 20 through the eyes of Definite Redemption. You can read and study it at face value for yourself. But I want to look at the state of my life and your life and start there!
The first time יהוה came down to check to us as a whole, humanity in society we weren’t doing to well, in-fact the first time יהוה came down to us as a whole, humanity in society we were starting what יהוה is now finishing in Ch 20 and bringing to a close, not only in Rev 20 but currently in our world today.
Mankind universal in rebellion to him – from Babylon to Mystery Babylon.
Gen 11:5 And יהוה came down ירד yârad to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
And יהוה said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
Joh 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
Joh 3:15 Whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Joh 3:16 For YAH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Joh 3:17 For YAH sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of YAH.
Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Joh 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. Joh 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in YAH.
Our Redemption: 5 things:
I am totally depraved, (total depravity) there is no good thing in me, there is nothing in me that is redeemable. How can someone who is dead choose life. They’re dead. There has to be intercession/YAH coming down from heaven to ignite life into the dead. Rom 7. I am carnal, sold under sin. sin dwelleth in me. in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing. evil is present. I was born a slave in captivity under the law of sin which is in my members.Wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me out of the body of this death?
Unconditional election: Two things stand out here: 1. I was unable to know יהוה and 2. unwilling to seek יהוה, even though I grew up in a religious environment. Why? Because I was dead and a dead man can’t take initiative! It took יהוה initiating change in my miserable self. יהוה initiating salvation into my miserable life. It was יהוה who chose and יהוה who took action not me not YOU! Our salvation was not initiated by US! Who are we but a filthy sinners saved by grace.1. Jn 4:9the love of YAH manifested in us, that YAH hath sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved YAH, but that He loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation/kippurim for our sins.
Limited atonement: is about purpose and accomplishment. What was the purpose of Yahusha’s death and what did it accomplish? Is salvation just merely possible? Or did He actually save those for whom He died? The bible teaches that Yahusha actually atoned for those the Father chose. He propitiated the wrath of His Father toward us and took it upon Himself actually redeeming us and reconciling us specifically to His Father – the elect. 1 Pet 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Yahusha.
Irresistible grace: When I was left to live my own life, on my own terms I automatically gravitated toward the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (explain). Left to my own devices I resisted the grace of יהוה. But when יהוה came down into my totally depraved life and worked in my heart through His Holy Spirit, regenerating me and creating a new will within me then that which was desirable to me before became undesirable and that which was undesirable before became desirable! What I ran away from – Yahsusha I now ran too. What I ran too – sin, I now run from! Meaning fallen sinners automatically resist YAH’s grace and YAH’s people. They can’t help it – they’re dead! It’s the fallen state default! It’s not personal against you or I or are witnessing capabilities or witnessing inabilities – it’s the fallen state! BUT when יהוה comes down His regeneration grace is effectual…it overcomes sin and accomplishes His purpose in your and my life. IT IS AN ASSURITY!
Perseverance of the saints: It’s not so much my magnificent faith and perseverance., much like a lot of you that know me personally and especially my wife as with my GOD…it’s the perseverance of יהוה with me, with you, the saints! יהוה is always persevering with us keeping us from falling away and because of He preserves we are empowered by His Spirit to then persevere. We persevere because YAH preserves us from full and final falling away from HIM. Joh 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
