Num 30:1 And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the יהוה hath commanded. 2 If a man vow a vow unto the יהוה, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth. 3 If a woman also vow a vow unto the יהוה, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth;
Num 30:4 And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. 5 But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the יהוה shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her. 6 And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul; 7 And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. 8 But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the יהוה shall forgive her. Num 30:9 But every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against her. Num 30:10 And if she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath;
Num 30:11 And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. Num 30:12 But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the יהוה shall forgive her.
Num 30:13 Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void. Num 30:14 But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them. Num 30:15 But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard them; then he shall bear her iniquity.
30:2 NEDER…don’t break your word, our words are powerful. We don’t have the right to pledge (heaven, earth) we have been bought for a price, we are not our own.
Torot of the woman and vows.
Who can annul a mans vows…only יהוה.
Coverings.
The husband can annul vows.
âbâh – אבה’ YAH’- YAH willing
Deut 23:22 But if you shall cease to vow, it shall be no sin in you.
Deu 23:23 That which has gone out of your lips you shall keep and perform, even a free-will offering, according as you have vowed to יהוה your Elohim, which you have promised with your mouth.
Widows: a loss of covering.
Men – speak up or else words stand.
ROM 10:8 But what does Torah actually say? The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your lev: that is, the word of emunah, which we proclaim;
9 That if you shall confess with your mouth the Master gauvh, and shall believe in your lev that vuvh has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
V. 9 “Kurios” – used more than 6000 times in the LXX for the True Name -the Tetragrammaton.
10 For with the lev man believes to tzedakah; and with the mouth confession is made to Yahshua. 11 For the Katuv says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed.
Three things: 1.confess. 2. believe. 3. saved:
1. Confess/Homologeō/nadar נדר/to take a vow. Word and deed, not repeat after me these words. Homo = one action of word and deed. Jer 44:15 a vow. To confess beyond all question; not only acoustic, or mental accent. Confession; a vow.
What happens if you don’t follow through with your vow? Punishment will follow. Meaning if you give יהוה lip service with Jesus and don’t vow your life; you’ll get worse punishment (beaten with heavy rods) a worse punishment than the heathen who never vowed in the first place.
Lk 12:47 The lord of that servant will come in the day that he hopeth not, and at the hour that he knoweth not: and shall separate him and shall appoint him his portion with unbelievers. 47 And that servant, who knew the will of his lord and prepared not himself and did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he that knew not and did things worthy of stripes shall be beaten with few stripes.
2. Believe/pisteuō/shama – to puts ones faith in with the implication that actions will follow.
3. Salvation is a by-product of keeping your vows.
Silence is aquissence – don’t stand silent – silence is consent.
Modern legal maxims from this torah parsha:
“Silence can be equated with fraud when an inquiry left unanswered would be intentionally misleading”
“Fraud and deceit may arise from silence where there is a duty to speak the truth”.
A permanent and irrevocable Estoppel by Acquiescence is created.
By failure to speak, there is by tacit procuration agreement to terms and conditions.
Cause and effect: selfishness and non acceptance OR selfishness and acceptance.
A right way of doing it and a wrong way of doing it. A honorable way of doing it and a dishonorable way of doing it.
Honorable: A “rescission” amounts to the unmaking of a contract, or an undoing of it from the beginning, and not merely a termination.
HONOR
DISHONOR
LUKEWARM – PASSIVITY
On the grounds of mistake, fraud, impossibility.
If you bring up your recession or accept a document you already rescissioned then you just rescissioned your rescission.
Acts 26:14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the goads/pricks.
Goad – is a long rod with a sharp end that is used to prick an animal to move or move in a different direction.
Better to be a honorable man or a dishonorable wretch but don’t traverse: Isa 22:13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.
Soul tie – Vay18:27 For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled.
The land is polluted because of the blood exchanged through appetites or sexual relations, when she receives multiple souls and dies and her blood pollutes the land.
Mishle 6:26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of lechem: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious chayim.
What a “whorish” “Nokriy” woman takes from a man is his soul – blood – seminal fluid.
Covenant vs Contract
PRIVATE VS PUBLIC
Every word effects change. Every thought effects change.
Shabbat is a vow; Exo 31:13 an OT, אות’ ôth oth a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, mark, miracle, (en-) sign, token.
Ch.31 VENGENCE
31:2 Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
Midianite whores, Balaam
Sorcery and impurity vs divine revelation and holiness
Cleansed through fire. Repentance and new life.
Purified with water. Mikvah
Ch. 32. CAUSING DIVISION OVER THE MATERIAL WORLD.
Num 32:1 Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle;
Reuben doesn’t want the inheritance and influences his brothers. Selfish ambition spreads, Living outside of Israel brings consequences. The curse caught up to them and brought about their demise.
740 BCE – Assyria first conquered Gad, Reuben, 1/2 tribe of Manasseh on the East side of the Jordan.
Num 32:6 And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?
Num 32:7 And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the יהוה hath given them?
Discouraging the people of יהוה, division and discouragement go hand in hand.
Edification and encouragement is for the people of יהוה.
When we speak negative of others we are acting as a second witness with Satan and it will bring about curses in our own life
Prov 26:1 honour is not seemly for a fool. 2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.
Reuben: “let us build a wall before we join Israel in battle.” Delayed obedience is disobedience.
Num 32:22 And the land be subdued before the יהוה: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the יהוה, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the יהוה.
Num 32:23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the יהוה: and be sure your sin will find you out.
Being clean and clear before יהוה or our sin will find us out if we keep in it. Reuben.
