Paul’s imprisonment in Jerusalem: What happens when we face only chaos and factions that function within the realm of controversy and debate? The emphasis is on Paul’s innocence and Jewish guilt, a point that will take us through the rest of Acts. Accusations kill, initially they are intended to kill the accused but ultimately they ensnare and kill the accusers.
Act 23:1 And looking intently at the council, Paul said, “Brothers, I have lived my life before Elohim in all good conscience up to this day.” 2 And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. 3 Then Paul said to him, “Elohim is going to strike you, you whitewashed wall! Are you sitting to judge me according to the TORAH, and yet contrary to the TORAH you order me to be struck?”
Paul’s imprisonment in Jerusalem:
Paul turns the tables on his inquisitors by shifting the debate from him to them on the arcane points of Jewish theology, specifically rising from the dead and angelic majesties.
Accusations kill, initially they are intended to kill the accused but ultimately they ensnare and kill the accusers because the origin of accusations stem with the father of lies – the katē-goros G2725 – ריב riyb H7379 – the accuser of the brethren – Satan. Satan is a complainant at law NOT in law. There’ s a huge difference that Matt 4 demonstrates.
Babylon the great is falling right before our eyes, the habitation of devils –GK daimōn from daiō those who distribute fortunes, is Mystery Babylon right now distributing fortunes in stimulus, you know another word for stimulus in the Thesaurus is “shot in the arm.” The Hebrew word for Stimulus is מלמדmalmâd – mem-lamed-mem-dalet, it means to be goaded into a pen! People are being goaded into a pen with Mystery Babylon’s stimulus to go get a shot in the arm!!!!!!!!!
Is she the hold of every foul spirit, and a prison for the unclean and hateful?
Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her viruses.
AT law opposed to IN law!
Attorney’s AT law, near law – that’s statutory the realm of the black robed attorning for those who cannot speak for themselves – the dead.
Yahusha mediates IN TORAH – that’s equity – righteous judgment for the living.
Prov 18:16 A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
Our gift is to come in honor and equity-peace.
Pro 18:17 He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
Accusers come in their own cause which always seems just.
Pro 18:18 The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
There’s a process that believers are called to walk by that causes contentions to cease.
We must judge ourselves and allow our accusers to walk their path with Satan to the magistrate.
As long as we make an effort to settle the matter, we can stay in the hand of יהוה not men.
If we enter into Satans realm of arguments and controversy we will be drug to the Sanhedrin or will be handed us over to the Romans and the Romans will put us in detention in Caesarea. If that happens we will never get out until we have paid the last penny!
Pro 18:19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
Act 23:4 Those who stood by said, “Would you revile Elohim’s high priest?” 5 And Paul said, “I did not know, brothers, that he was the high priest, for it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’” 6 Now when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. It is with respect to the hope and the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial.”
Ananias served from about 47-59 CE and he was know for his bad temper, he was also known for his pro Roman stance and was killed by a sicari assassin or zealot in 66CE.
Deut 28:22 יהוה will strike you with wasting disease and with fever, inflammation and fiery heat, and with drought and with blight and with mildew. They shall pursue you until you perish.
Ps 110:5 יהוה is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. 6 He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth.
Job 34:26 יהוה knows the accusers works, he overturns them in the night, and they are crushed. 26 He strikes them for their wickedness in a place for all to see,
Ezekiel was up against these whitewashed walls: Ezek 13:10 Precisely because they have misled my people, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because, when the people build a wall, these prophets smear it with whitewash, 11 say to those who smear it with whitewash that it shall fall! There will be a deluge of rain, and you, O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind break out. 12 And when the wall falls, will it not be said to you, ‘Where is the coating with which you smeared it?’ 13 Therefore thus says the master יהוה : I will make a stormy wind break out in my wrath, and there shall be a deluge of rain in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to make a full end. 14 And I will break down the wall that you have smeared with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you shall perish in the midst of it, and you shall know that I am יהוה .15 Thus will I spend my wrath upon the wall and upon those who have smeared it with whitewash, and I will say to you, The wall is no more, nor those who smeared it.
The accusers cry for remedy when there is no remedy so they build cases or walls of accusation – flimsy walls covered in whitewash, which collapse in a time of trial. The wall would be about to collapse from rot within the accuser which has been whitewashed to look good.
They would whitewash tombs to ensure people saw them, paid notice to them and didn’t inadvertently touch them and become unclean (Matt 23:27). Look at these images of a defiled person, a defiled conscious headed for judgment!
5 And Paul said, “I did not know, brothers, that he was the high priest, for it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’
Paul cites Exo 22:28 as an ironic condemnation, he’s saying in effect, “a true ruler would not do such a thing” Just as Caiphus condemned himself by ripping his garment annulling the priesthood, you too Anaius have condemned yourself attesting to the nullification of the Levitical priesthood.
Act 23:7 And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. 8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all. 9 Then a great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ party stood up and contended sharply, “We find nothing wrong in this man. What if a spirit or an angel spoke to him?”
Paul realizes there’s not going to be an impartial hearing before the Sanhedrin and that everything is stacked against him so he decides to take action himself and disrupt the proceedings.
Act 23:10 And when the dissension became violent, the tribune, afraid that Paul would be torn to pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him away from among them by force and bring him into the barracks. 11 The following night YAHUSHA stood by him and said, “Take courage, for as you have testified to the facts about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in Rome.”
TESTIFY: עוּד‛OOD #5749 ayeen- vav- dalet
The pictograph: ayeen is a picture of the eye, the dalet is a picture of the door. Combined these mean “see the door”. As coming to a tent, a tent of meeting and entering in. As believers we are to stand at the tent of meeting – that’s at YHWHs door, NOT the door of Mystery Babylon.
Act 23:12 When it was day, the Jews made a plot and bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. 13 There were more than forty who made this conspiracy. 14 They went to the chief priests and elders and said, “We have strictly bound ourselves by an oath to taste no food till we have killed Paul. 15 Now therefore you, along with the council, give notice to the tribune to bring him down to you, as though you were going to determine his case more exactly. And we are ready to kill him before he comes near.” 16 Now the son of Paul’s sister heard of their ambush, so he went and entered the barracks and told Paul.
Do we live in such a world where a large segment of the population have strictly bound themselves by swearing to kill and destroy. Ready to kill, ambush and enter into peoples private property?
Act 23:17 Paul called one of the centurions and said, “Take this young man to the tribune, for he has something to tell him.” 18 So he took him and brought him to the tribune and said, “Paul the prisoner called me and asked me to bring this young man to you, as he has something to say to you.”19 The tribune took him by the hand, and going aside asked him privately, “What is it that you have to tell me?” 20 And he said, “The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though they were going to inquire somewhat more closely about him. 21 But do not be persuaded by them, for more than forty of their men are lying in ambush for him, who have bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor drink till they have killed him. And now they are ready, waiting for your consent.”22 So the tribune dismissed the young man, charging him, “Tell no one that you have informed me of these things.”
Mystery Babylon is falling and we do not want to fall into the hands of the mob like Paul did…because no matter how eloquent you are…you cannot win over an offended person because their contentions are like the bars of a castle that have imprisoned them for the duration of their life. Paul moved on, as we should too!
